JOB TITLE:             RESIDENTIAL AIDE

FLSA:                      NON-EXEMPT

DIVISION:             SERVICES

REPORTS TO:        PROGRAM DIRECTOR /DIRECTOR OF SOCIAL SERVICES

LOCATION:           QUEENS ,NY

SALARY:              $17.00 to $18.00 Hourly

 

SUMMARY :

The Residential Aide assist with client basic needs. Individual will work in conjunction with the social services team to monitor and provide appropriate basic services in a homeless shelter. Proof of COVIV-19 vaccinations required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete intakes for new clients and provide orientation to the facility and DHS rules and regulations.

  • Serve meals and snacks to clients during meal times

  • Perform regular area inspections to ensure that shelter rules are adhered too

  • Monitor sitting areas, laundry rooms and cafeteria to ensure all clients are adhering to shelter rules

  • Maintain a clean and organized storage area

  • Document and track locks for all lockers

  • Maintain lock log

  • Assist with intakes

  • Assist clients with securing property within assigned locker

  • Store and remove client property from the client storage/locker area as appropriate

  • Relocate items and furniture as necessary

  • Assist security team as needed

  • Cover operations desk when necessary

  • Maintain required documentation in case records in writing and computer database (CARES) and update client’s records in accordance with governmental and agency policy.

  • Collect and make copies of client identification and other documents necessary during initial intake.

  • Assist clients in daily living skills and assist with cleaning area, laundry, hygiene and etc.

  • Launder and fold all agency towels, wash cloths and shelter linens after clients have left the facility.

  • Follow laundry schedule to ensure that all used linens are washed and stored as appropriate.

  • Attend and participate in all required agency meetings: staff meetings, house meetings, in-service training and weekly/bi-weekly case review

  • Perform regular inspections of all client areas

  • Respond to incidents as appropriate

  • Answer phones when necessary

  • Assist with all house operations

  • Assist with maintenance duties as needed

  • Review logbooks at start of each shift to ensure that all new client intakes are completed within 24 hours as required.

  • Perform all/other duties as directed by management.                           

    EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

    High School Diploma or GED required. Associates Degree preferred. Food Handlers Certification required.  1-year experience dealing with homeless or special needs population. Excellent communication skills. Knowledge of DHS requirements and protocols
