JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Medical Receptionist Lead

DEPARTMENT: Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC)

STATUS: Full-time, Non-Exempt REPORTS TO: Administrative Lead, ASC

DATE: Revised April 2024

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Medical Receptionist Lead is responsible for checking patients in and out of the ASC for office procedures, making sure patients fill out the appropriate paperwork, assisting with insurance eligibility and communicating out of pocket costs to patients.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greets and directs all patients at the ASC.

  • Assists with checking insurance eligibility for procedures

  • Prepares charts for procedures including obtaining medical records from various offices, hospitals, etc

  • Assist with patient calls, moving appointments, rescheduling appointments, etc.

  • Triage secretaries to schedules and reschedules appointments that are cancelled/ no show.

  • Distributes and follows up on incoming faxes.

  • Scans 25-30 charts per day into Medent and Apex Provation

  • Posting of charges

  • Communicates out of pocket costs to patients.

  • Collects copays from patients and posts payments

  • Tallies up copays for the day, prints out the day sheet and matches up copays with patient information.

  • Enters all internal and external documents into Medent and Apex Provation.

  • Maintains confidentiality of provider information

  • Assist in the maintenance of medical charts and/or electronic medical record (medical record requests, monthly review tool and adverse event report quarterly.

  • Provides support to Administrative Coordinator as needed.

  • Maintains cleanliness of the waiting room.

  • Order lunches for doctors.

  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of a High School diploma; Associates Degree preferred.

  • At least one year relevant experience and/or training.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong customer service and communication (written and verbal) skills.

  • Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software, such as word and excel. Familiarity with EMR strongly desired.

  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as accept direction on given assignments.

  • Able to maintain highest level of confidentiality

  • Able to work collectively with administration and staff.

  • Exceptional phone manner

  • Strong organizational skills: must be able to multi-task.

  • Other duties as assigned.
