CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY\ Perform manual, skilled, and unskilled labor in the cleaning, maintenance and repair of grounds and\ facilities at and around City parks/facilities and on or adjacent to public rights-of-way. Performs general\ construction, maintenance, and repairs to a wide array of City buildings and infrastructure. This position\ requires applicants to be 16 years of age or older.\ The job requires working knowledge of construction and landscape techniques and general cleaning and\ janitorial methods. The job requires the ability to utilize hand and power tools in a safe manner. The job\ requires the ability to maintain a collaborative and cooperative working relationship with elected and\ appointed officials, other City employees, other organizations, and the general public. Individuals must be\ capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record.\ The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, in wet and humid\ conditions, with areas of dust, odors, mist, gases or other airborne matter. Employees work in/at places\ where they are exposed to mechanical hazards. Employees will also drive a vehicle as part of this position.\ This position works days, evenings, and weekends as required.\ *Placement on the Seasonal pay scale and associated steps relate directly to position, qualifications, and\ experience with the City of Pocatello.\ ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (illustrative only and may vary by assignment)\ Employee must possess above average knowledge, skill & experience in construction and construction\ related tasks necessary to provide assistance in construction of park amenities and other assigned\ construction duties on an as needed basis, and with little or no supervision, including: large equipment\ operation such as backhoe, front end loader and non-CDL dump trucks. Performs pouring & finishing of\ cement. Uses small hand & power tools and equipment including chain saws, carpentry, etc. in completion\ of duties. Daily reporting of assigned job completion status to supervisor. Duties performed with little to no\ supervision. Responsible for driving a City vehicles and trailers, as well as loading & transport of large area\ City maintenance equipment to various park & beautification areas and construction sites throughout the\ City, as assigned.\ Nothing in this job description restricts management\'s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities\ to this position at any time.\ ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS\ High school diploma or GED;\ Two (2) to five (5) years of experience may be required;\ Specialized certifications, construction and/or supervisory experience may be required;\ Idaho Drivers license is required.\ An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and\ abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position may be considered.\ Classification Title: Safety and Resource Renewal Team Member Page 2\ PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\ While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit,\ stoop, kneel, bend, climb ladders, work at heights, and in confined spaces.
