University of Pittsburgh Research Technician in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Research Technician

The successful candidate will perform biological research through computational analysis, including methods development for on-going projects in the lab involving large comparative genomics datasets. The researcher will conduct these projects under the supervision of the principal investigator. The position will also require assisting with writing scientific publications describing computational advances and their application to specific biological and genetic projects.

Job Summary

 

Performs a variety of laboratory experiments and procedures. Prepares specimens. Oversees supply management. Operates and properly maintains equipment.

 

Essential Functions

Reading and writing computer code. Thinking about statistical treatment of data. Writing scientific manuscripts. Speaking with and tutoring junior scientists in the use of computational tools.

Physical Effort

There is no specific need for physical effort for this position; must have the ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
