Reference #: 2021586 Carnegie Mellon University seeks a Data Science Course Developer within our Language Technologies Institute in Pittsburgh, PA, responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software applications and systems utilized in Data Science courses for the University's Master's in Computational Data Science (MCDS) program. Specific duties include: (i) designing and implementing educational data science projects to run on cloud infrastructure, including reviewing, maintaining, and updating course content and project-based courses that utilize effective and efficient learning methodologies; (ii) evaluating, configuring, and deploying software applications to meet specific educational needs in alignment with CMU's Learning Management System (LMS), used by all Data Science students; (iii) designing, deploying, and testing software infrastructure to support the administration of projects to students, including performing content development (i.e., content and slide creation from existing materials), reviewing materials for relevance, and testing software system enhancements; (iv) developing, reviewing, and maintaining course content (i.e., content page creation, course configuration, course loading, and quality testing and review) in the form of text, images, video, and activities for various data science related topics and, in particular, for auto-graded projects and their associated auto-graders; (v) providing support, feedback, and technical guidance to students and teaching assistants working on data science projects; (vi) participating in the design of experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of new educational methods for large-scale learning; and (vii) collecting and analyzing data from these experiments as well as drafting scholarly papers describing the research methods, experiments, and results.

Must have a Bachelor's degree in Applied Data Science, Computer Science, Instructional Design, Learning Sciences or a related field, plus two (2) years of experience in a related position.

Must have any experience with each of the following: (i) data analytics tools, such as Jupyter, R, Tableaux, or Spark; (ii) building, deploying and troubleshooting software systems; and (iii) developing applications using JAVA or Python.

Must also have any knowledge of (through any completed university-level coursework, seminars, workshops, or real-world, hands-on experience) each of the following: (i) commercial cloud services, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Microsoft Azure; and (ii) a Learning Management System (LMS), such as Canvas.

Experience can be concurrent.
