Under the supervision of the Criminal Investigations Division chain of command, the Family Response Advocate will work closely with the City of Pittsburg Police Department, Government Agencies, non-profit organizations, the and Family Resource Center to provide resources to families who need additional support.

Starting hourly rate for this position is \$16 \$18/HR (DOE)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Successfully complete all of the objectives within the Community Based Child Abuse and Prevention Grant Proposal
  • Work closely with law enforcement to provide additional support after patrol calls, investigations, and other contact with families in the community
  • Provide resources, referrals, and follow-up for families in Crawford County in order to reduce the incidence of child abuse and neglect;
  • Distribute concrete support funding to families who have an identified need, make on-site visits, and keep appropriate records. Work with other agencies to maximize funding
  • Work with families to complete appropriate child development screenings on children
  • Compile extensive data on the families served and types of service provided. Provide all necessary records for accurate reporting to the Childrens Cabinet and Trust Fund
  • Receive appropriate training in the Strengthening Families Model, child development, developmentally appropriate practice, developmental screenings and assessments, preventing abuse and neglect, basic police protocols, home visitation, and personal safety; Provide appropriate support to those offering monthly training to police officers, fire fighters, utility workers, and other city personnel
  • Attend county coalitions and other appropriate meetings as they pertain to children, families, and/or law enforcement within the communities
  • Work with the Executive Director of the FRC to ensure that funding is being spent appropriately and reporting is accurate. Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor(s),Deputy Chief of Police, Chief of Police, and the Executive Director of FRC.
