Pittsburg State University invites applications for the position of Director of Admission. The primary function of the Director of Admission (ADM) is to provide leadership in the development and implementation of programs and services designed to attract, admit and enroll all prospective student populations that meet the universitys strategic enrollment goals by organizing, planning, and directing all admissions functions of Pittsburg State University, including both outreach activities and internal processing.

Duties and Responsibilities

35% Leadership

  • Recruit, select, supervise, and develop admission staff
  • While remaining responsible for results, delegate responsibilities to associate/assistant director/s and other staff members as appropriate
  • Develop and manage office budgets
  • Develop and implement office strategic plan aligned with University and division plans
  • Work collaboratively across the University to achieve unit objectives (e.g., marketing, housing, financial assistance, academic departments, and campus life units.
  • Ensure timely and efficient application processing and advise related to awarding of aid funds.
  • Create an office atmosphere characterized by a high level of professionalism and quality service.

35% Recruitment

  • Develop and manage all activities related to student recruitment, including annual planning documents addressing marketing and recruitment initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Office of Creative and Strategic Communications in crafting recruitment and marketing plans, messages, and strategies.
  • Make effective use of CRM system in crafting an effective, personalized communication flow to prospective students.
  • Use statistical information and historical data reports to forecast and analyze current and potential enrollment opportunities, making recommendations to the Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management addressing new strategic initiatives, opportunities, and challenges.
  • Develop and sustain recruitment and admission policies and programs that reflect the universitys commitment to providing educational access to a broad and diverse population of qualified students.

10% - Administer Policy

  • Assure university admission practices are in compliance with Kansas Board of Regents policies.
  • Make residency decisions for new undergraduates where circumstances warrant discretion.
  • Establish and administer guidelines for admission exceptions.
  • Prepare information based on admissions data to meet Regents reporting requirements.
  • Collaboration with other campus offices to establish policies and procedures that serve the interests of students and families while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Prepare or collaborate with those preparing required federal, state, and institutional reports

15% - Committee Work

  • Engage in University service and committees (e.g., Enrollment Management and Marketing Councils), advise exploratory studies students, and undertake special projects and other duties as assigned.

5% - Professional Development

  • Engage in professional development activities to continually improve programs and enhance the reputation of the university
