Pittsburg State University is accepting applications for an Accountant in the Business Office. The primary function of the Accountant position is to account for all revenue and deposit transactions in both the University and State of Kansas accounting systems, as well as prepare various bank and general ledger reconciliations according to the appropriate deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities of Position

(50%) Essential

This position is responsible for accounting for all university receipts, interfund deposits, bank deposits, student accounts, receivable registers, merchant fees, and interest earnings. This includes posting in both the University and State of Kansas accounting systems. An in-depth knowledge of accounting codes and accounting systems is required.

(40%) Essential

This position is responsible for various reconciliations including the following: all university bank accounts, local cash on hand, pledged securities, temporary deposit and suspense funds, financial aid programs including reimbursement and drawdown of funds, and university scholarships.

(10%) Essential

This position will assist as needed on various projects as requested. Perform other duties as assigned.
