Aston Carter Employment Training Specialist (ON SITE) in Peabody, Massachusetts

Seeking an Employment Specialist! Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Pay: $19.55/hr

Location: Peabody, MA

Schedule: Monday - Friday

Position Summary:

The Specialist 1 works to fulfill the mission to build a world where individuals with disabilities are able to realize their full potential. The Specialist 1 relies on previous work experience and works under limited supervision to provide training and support to individual members in a program, community, or community living setting including preparing schedules, evaluating member/individual progress, and providing person-centered services. Regularly interacts with members of the community to develop relationships that will benefit program services and opportunities for members. Fosters positive relationships with all stakeholders through information, education, and advocacy.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Works under limited supervision, actively engaging members to achieve the goals in their person-centered plans through role modeling, skills training, and relationship building, supporting the development of competencies and capabilities

  • Positively adheres to the organization’s Guiding Principles, and Code of Ethical Conduct

  • Develops relationships with members within a holistic environment to build trust

  • Completes all required documentation in a timely manner; following all agency policies, procedures and standards including timesheets, daily logs, progress notes, and accident/incident reports, utilizing Credible, ADP, SharePoint to document required information

  • Communicates positively, effectively, and professionally in written and oral format to all internal and external customers

  • Promotes independence for each assigned member, advocates for the integration of members in community settings, assists members with appropriate social, educational,, daily living and health and wellness goals

  • Follows all agency policies and procedures and stays informed of agency and program changes and updates

  • Successfully completes all company required and job-specific training within required timeframes

  • Follows pre-determined safety protocols to assess and intervene in emergency and crisis situations; alerts appropriate staff members

  • Provides transportation for members using personal and/or agency vehicle as required

  • Performs additional duties as required

Skills & Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency with relevant experience required

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s preferred

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

  • Plans and implements the vocational assessment, placement, training and follow-along for given caseload

  • Provides assistance to members/individuals served regarding their benefits and entitlements particularly as they relate to returning to work

  • Ensures high quality services are provided to both members/individuals served and employers

  • Oversees employment sites for caseload of members/individuals served, maintaining positive working relationships with community employers

  • Develops job opportunities and employer relationships to include individual and group placements that correspond to members/individuals’ interests and skills

  • Provides job training, coaching, and support to program members at their worksite (if applicable)

  • Requires knowledge of and use of established systems including email, Credible EHR, ADP and Relias Learning Management System

  • Must demonstrate proficiency in effectively using Word, Outlook, Credible, timecard keeping, and learning management system within 90 days of employment
