Patuxent River, MD

SMX is seeking a Test Engineering Technician to support the Software Engineering Department Support Services contract at Patuxent River NAS, MD.

The Test Engineering Technician will apply engineering techniques, principles and precedents to test, evaluate, and troubleshoot enhancements to the electronics and avionics of the E2 C/D aircraft.

As the Test Engineering Technician, you will:

  • Plan and perform tests and evaluations of systems equipment or components

  • Compile, process, reduce, and analyze test data results

  • Organize, analyze, and prepare reports or presentations of technical data and information

  • Develop and apply engineering, technical, and/or maintenance specifications, policies, standards, and procedures

  • Perform assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Clearance Required: Secret

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Completion of a technical school, trade school, or advanced armed services technical school curriculum or course of training in one of the following:

  • Electricity, electronics, avionics, mechanics, armaments/ordnance, engineering technology; OR

  • Completion of at least 30 semester hours of course studies at an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical curriculum

  • 8+ years of experience in performing functions in an engineering field

  • 4+ years of experience performing engineering functions in DoD aircraft, DoD weapons systems, DoD mission systems or DoD support systems

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to adapt and utilize available resources (standard procedures, applicable precedents, instructions and advice from supervisor/engineers) to determine best course of action

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with the E2 C/D is highly desired
