SMX is seeking a driven and talented Network Administrator to support our customers mission. The customer's mission provides a persistent capability for linking distributed facilities, enabling DoD customers to develop and test warfighting capabilities in a Joint Context. This initiative offers a test infrastructure composed of the necessary components for conducting Joint distributed test events. Cost-effective integration of live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) test resources is undertaken to configure support according to users' needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the administration of the customers environment consisting of various types of technology and vendors.

  • Engage directly with the customer, ensuring their specific requirements are met within the lab environment while being responsible for clear communication, troubleshooting efforts

  • Work with Information Security to perform routine security analysis to initiate firewall changes, security updates or implement infrastructure changes

  • Assist other Network Administrators in firewall management and intrusion prevention and detection of external gateways.

  • Network administration including user account management, firewall, office systems and applications.

  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for small enterprise network.

  • Monitors Jira system and email reflector daily and responds rapidly to userbase questions or requests.

  • Creates and maintains Jira tickets for all supported systems and capabilities.

  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise. Solarwinds / Whats Up Gold experience a plus.

  • Assists in design of network architectures and implementation of network devices.

  • Assist with Standardization of network infrastructure by deploying Juniper Firewalls and Cisco Routers/Switches

  • Installation of various equipment including Firewalls, Switches and Routers.

Required Skills:

  • Clearance Required: DoD Secret Security Clearance. Top Secret/SCI preferred

  • Available to work onsite at Patuxent River NAS 5 days/week

  • Must be DoD 8570 IAT Level II certified. Some examples (CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC. Security+ CE. CND and SSCP)

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working in a DoD environment preferably within a DoD helpdesk.

  • 3 years Network Administration experience.

  • Cisco (CCNA/CCNP) or Juniper (JNCIA/JNCIS) certification.

  • Experience with implementation of VMWare NSX is a plus.

  • Experience with security hardening on Firewalls, routers and switches to mitigate susceptibility to threats.

  • Knowledge of Maintaining and administering Juniper Firewalls and Cisco Routers/Switches. Proficiency with various OS (JUNOS, Cisco IOS, etc)

  • Ability to Install and configure Cisco routers and switches, VLANs, VPNs, security.
