Steele County Adult Probation Officer I, II or III in Owatonna, Minnesota

Full Time (40 hours per week) Benefit & Pension Eligible Under the direction of the Steele County Community Corrections Director/Assistant Director, the Adult Probation Officer is responsible for providing for the safety of the community and encouraging the rehabilitation of adult clients utilizing evidence-based practices; incorporating restorative justice practices; preparing comprehensive investigative and analytic reports for use by the Court and for chemical health placements; supervising clients; maintaining a working knowledge of all areas of client deficits, i.e., mental health issues, chemical dependency issues, defective thinking, etc.; and performing other duties as apparent or assigned. This position requires non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends. Duties include, but are not limited to: Conducts pre-sentence investigations for assigned cases. Manages a caseload of adult clients who are on probation for misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors and/or felony level offences. Motivationally interacts with clients, administers and interprets risk/needs assessment and document case plans. In collaboration with other agencies, creates supervision plans to most efficiently use local resources. Provides rehabilitative supervision to protect the community and rehabilitate clients. Administers DNA tests. Enrolls, hooks-up, and provides monitoring service to clients participating in the electronic monitoring program. Collects urine and breath tests to detect use of mood-altering substances. Provides rehabilitative and field supervision to protect the community and rehabilitate clients. Maintains knowledge of appropriate treatment resources for adult clients. Maintains chronological case records. Ensures that data is accessed and secured in compliance with departmental, state and federal guidelines. Compiles Victim Statements according to statutory requirements, includes contact with the victim to ensure legitimacy of restitution claim and obtain Victim Statement.
