Elevance Health Business Information Developer Consultant (US) in NORFOLK, Virginia

Business Information Developer Consultant

Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). An ideal candidate must live within 50 miles of one of our Elevance Health PulsePoint locations listed here: Norfolk, VA or Mason, OH.

The Business Information Developer Consultant is responsible for partnering with internal and external business clients and IT to fulfill information needs and support business decisions.

How you will make an impact:

  • Uses program languages (i.e. Snowflake, MS SQL Server, Teradata) to extract data

  • Collaborates with IT resources on the creation and maintenance of the content of the data warehouse, establishes and maintains general knowledge of data warehouse data structure design, definitions, capabilities, SQL, and data integrity issues, completes metadata assessment and reviews feedback to determine changes, ensures that data definitions are clear and current, and communicates changes to data definitions to all users.

  • Collaborates with IT resources and data owners to define business objectives and definitions for databases including business rules, sources, purge archive criteria, and reload schedule.

  • Develops and supports data warehouse-related applications for business areas requiring design and implementation of database tables.

  • Determines how decision support systems will provide the data required to make effective business decisions.

  • Performs modeling of information sources and flows.

  • Develops strategic report applications from the Data Warehouse.

  • Ability to lead and mentor more junior developers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a BS/BA degree and a minimum of 4 years related analytical experience; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.

Highley Preferred Skills, Experiences and Competencies:

  • Knowledge of programming language related to MS SQL Server / Teradata / Snowflake highly preferred

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability strongly preferred

  • Strong PC and communication skills strongly preferred

  • SSIS knowledge or experience strongly preferred

Preferred Skills, Experiences and Competencies:

  • Reference data management, governance, and integrity

  • Knowledge of PowerBI a plus
