Job Description:

Infection Prevention Director, 40 hrs/wk, Monday-Friday

The Infection Preventionist is responsible and accountable for the planning, coordination, management and evaluation of the hospital-wide infection control program, surveillance, education, monitoring trends that have been identified through surveillance and to maintain all regulatory (such as CMS, DPH, Joint Commission) requirements. The Infection Preventionist collaborates with teams and individuals to create infection prevention strategies, provide feedback, and sustain infection prevention strategies.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops and manages the Infection Control Program to include but not limited to Policy and Proceduredevelopment, revision and maintenance and annual evaluation of the Program

  • Investigates potential outbreaks within the hospital departments.

  • Works with the regulatory agencies for reporting of any outbreaks.

  • Oversees the hospital Infection Control Committee.

  • Provides education, mentoring to hospital physicians, staff and the community.

  • Identifies problems in relation to Infection Control, investigates, responds, and communicates outcomes to Directors and physicians as appropriate.

  • Identifies trends in infection prevention through research and education and presents findings to frontline staff, providers, directors, managers and senior leadership.

Essential Skill:

Analytical, problem solving, collaboration, strong oral and written communication skills, ablity to implement evidence-based guidelines, conflict resolution, program and project management, expertise in data collection and analysis, report writing and data presentation, leadership, familiar with software technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Baccalaureate degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, clinical laboratory science, medical technology related field AND enrolled in Masters level program, completion of Master's degree highly preferred.

  • Must have at least 3-5 years of hospital infection prevention experience
