Job Overview:

The Psychiatric Emergency Department Technician (PEDT) is an individual who assists the health care professionals in the delivery of care to patients.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent. At least one year of patient care experience. Maintains successful completion of all Orientation Programs to include BEST Training.

  • Can work in a well-lighted office area. Participate in crisis de-escalation and restraint. Hazards include risk of exposure to communicable disease, risk of physical injury, operation of equipment, and hazardous chemicals.

Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions):

Essential Functions:

  • Possesses the ability to collect, assess, or retrieve data reflective of the patient s status relative to his/her age.

  • Interprets and evaluates the appropriate information needed to identify each patient s needs and requirements relative to patient outcomes.

  • The PEDT provides care under the direction of the Registered Nurse utilizing the skills and techniques established within job requirements.
