The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Acharyya Lab at Columbia University's Institute for Cancer Genetics is seeking a highly-motivated and enthusiastic individual for the position of Technician B. The laboratory performs cancer research and the incumbent will perform basic molecular biology and keep records of experimental results.

Responsibilities

  • DNA and RNA preparation,
  • PCR,Recombinant DNA Cloning,
  • Gel Electrophoresis, Protein Analysis
  • Western Blots, Tissue Culture;
  • Incumbent will keep clear records of experimental results.
  • Additional responsibilities pertain to laboratory safety, organizing supplies, research reagents, equipment maintenance, monitoring and ordering lab supplies and other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Physics or a completed animal husbandry program or equivalent in education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ plus years experience in a research laboratory preferred.
  • Experience with cell culture and standard molecular biology and cell biology techniques.
  • Computer skills a must (word/excel).
  • Good interpersonal communications skills are required.

Other Requirements

  • It may be necessary to work late on occasions to complete experiments.
