Job Summary

Sam Schwartz, a TYLin company, is seeking a Senior Engineer for our New York City office to help lead diverse, high profile transportation projects for both private and public sector clients. A large portion of the work will focus on either operations engineering- managing pedestrian and vehicle operations at transportation facilities to provide safe transport and an excellent customer experience. Work will also include maintaining operations, vehicle and pedestrian flow, and excellent transportation-related customer experience during multiple phases of large-scale construction.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • The selected individual will perform various tasks, such as:

  • Leading a team to develop creative solutions to airport landside challenges, including airport ground transportation systems during construction.

  • Overseeing and providing technical oversight to the design of traffic control devices, signing, and markings

  • Overseeing and providing technical oversight to traffic and pedestrian capacity analyses according to industry-standard methodologies

  • Collaborating with and presenting to agency officials, including non-engineering/planning stakeholders

  • Prioritizing, defining, and delegating client requests to internal and various external consultant teams

  • Understanding and interpreting data analytics to make informed decisions, develop recommendations, and propose solutions

  • Staying up to date on the latest trends in transportation technology and mobility services

  • Identifying/foreseeing potential project construction delays and work opportunities, and developing plans to minimize impact on construction activities

Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of experience in the transportation engineering/planning field

  • Degree in civil or transportation engineering or related field

  • PE and/or AICP certification strongly preferred

  • Experience working with public agencies on large-scale transportation infrastructure projects

  • Project management skills and experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Ability to anticipate and represent client needs and interests

  • Ability to interpret/synthesize data of disparate sources into a cohesive singular perspective

  • Experience managing transportation projects, including management of staff, budgets, schedules, and clients

  • Proficiency with using standard transportation technical manuals and procedures including the MUTCD, AASHTO, HCM, CEQR Technical Manual

  • Familiarity with Synchro, VISSIM, and HCS with knowledge about program inputs, outputs, and limitations

  • Technical proficiency with elements of roadway design, including roadway alignment, markings, signing, and signals

  • Flexibility to work at the project site and during non-standard business hours occasionally

  • Valid United States driver's license strongly preferred

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

This position is for Sam Schwartz's New York City office; however, candidate would have the flexibility to work from Sam Schwartz's Jersey City, NJ office as well.


Additional Information

Sam Schwartz is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $87,800 - $146,600 annually for this position and local market.
