Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Production Manager to join our team in Nazareth, PA. The Production Manager role is based at the Heidelberg Materials Cement Plant located in Nazareth, PA and reports directly to the Assistant Plant Manager.

What you’ll get to do

  • Ensure the overall production process works at the optimum level, to the right rate and quality of output, in order to meet supply needs.

  • Deliver the optimal technological process of clinker/cement production to deliver a consistently high-quality product at the lowest possible cost.

  • Assess and make recommendations regarding processes and equipment.

  • Monitor modifications and upgrades and troubleshoot issues.

  • Prepare reports, flow diagrams, and charts to ensure consistent, effective, and well understood processes.

  • Project management, to include annual plant outages.

  • Collaborate on risk assessments.

  • Manage and lead the production department work and people.

  • Coordinate with the Maintenance department, planning mill and kiln line outages.

  • Collaborate with the laboratory to monitor and maintain and improve quality.

  • Ensure the flow of production processes meet local regulations and permit requirements.

  • Conduct root cause failure analysis and deduce opportunities for improvements.

  • Help improve the reliability and performance of the plant.

  • Participate in the development and follow-up of the Capital Expenditures (CAPEX) Plan.

  • Collaborate with the Heidelberg Competence Center (CCC) to share and implement best practices.

  • Assist and coordinate with the Purchasing department for effective ordering of spare parts and refractories.

  • Develop the technical and leadership capability of Operators and Production Supervisors.

  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.

Essential Experience and Skills

  • At least 5 years of cement plant operating experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience in process and project engineering.

  • Progressive responsibility experience in production management, including prior supervisory experience.

  • Motivation, ability, and willingness to be on-call as required including participation in the weekend coverage rotation, to ensure the continuity of plant operations.

  • Experience in the selection and installation of kiln system refractory materials.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot operational problems with cement manufacturing equipment.

  • Strong PC skills, including spreadsheet, word processing, and inventory control software.

  • Experience in dealing with labor relations matters and administering collective bargaining agreements.

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, communication and decision-making skills.

Work Environment

  • Role operates in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions.
