A DAY IN THE LIFE

The Product Connectivity Solutions team builds and supports critical technologies that enable Medtronic’s medical devices to connect in hospital and home environments. As a member of the Product Connectivity Solutions team, you will work across organizational boundaries to enhance platforms that allow the us to support global R&D efforts across a wide variety of medical devices.

Responsibilities:

  • Work on an agile team to develop new operations focused tools that support highly reliable device connectivity.

  • Collaborate with Developers, Business Analysts and Testers to ensure quality delivery.

  • Look for ways to optimize and reuse software components.

  • Gathering and analyzing metrics from cloud environments as well as applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding.

  • Build proactive monitoring using Amazon Tools such as Cloud Watch

  • Lead DevOps initiatives to assist in building robust deployment pipelines.

  • Diagnose problems / conduct Root Cause Analysis for custom cloud applications.

  • Partnering with cross-functional development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures.

  • Participating in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning

  • Create sustainable systems and services through automation and developing monitoring schemes.

  • Balance feature development speed and reliability while assisting in defining service level objectives based on business and product need.

  • Other Duties as requested.

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION, THE FOLLOWING BASIC QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE EVIDENT ON YOUR RESUME

Education Required

• Bachelor's degree

Years of Experience

  • 4+ years of SRE experience with a bachelor’s degree

  • 2+ years of SRE experience with a master’s degree

Specialized Knowledge or Skills Required

  • Experience with Agile Methodology

  • Ability to program (structured and OOP) using one or more high-level languages, such as Python, Java, C/C++, Ruby, and JavaScript

  • Experience with distributed storage technologies such as RDA, Amazon S3, as well as dynamic resource management frameworks (Kubernetes, Yarn)

  • DevOps experience – building cloud deployment pipelines and integrating automated testing.

  • Experience developing feedback loops to monitor system performance.

  • Proactive approach to identifying problems, performance bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.

  • Strong collaboration skills

DESIRED/PREFERRED:

  • Background in healthcare or other regulated industries

  • Experience working on highly available systems

  • Coding experience beyond simple scripts

Previous success in Cloud Engineering / System or Site Reliability Engineering
