Position Overview:

The Houseperson provides support between laundry, guest-room, and maintain public area for cleanliness, and appearance. This position transports clean/dirty linen and supplies, disposes of trash, cleans all hard/textile surfaces and restrooms within public space, responds to guest room requests.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Willingness to accept the most effective role

  • Restock inventory of stockrooms, as needed

  • Supports Room Attendants in stripping soiled linens, towels, and removing trash from guest-rooms

  • Collects soiled linen from vacant/dirty guest-rooms and transports to laundry room

  • Distributes clean bath and bed linen from laundry to storerooms

  • Delivers items to guest-rooms upon request by guest

  • Picks up and returns to storage any previously used guest request items found in guestrooms or corridors (i.e. crib, rollaway)

  • Cleans guest rooms and guest areas; including but not limited to – making beds, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, cleaning windows and mirrors, and replacing supplies

  • Communicates with Supervisor for any special duties, or requests

  • Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with security regulations

  • Follows procedures concerning protection against blood borne pathogens

  • Utilizes chemicals according to directions and familiarizes self with all MSDS

  • Other duties as specified by the Housekeeping Supervisor on an "as need" basis

    If there is no Public Space person in the hotel, House Person is also responsible for the following:

  • Maintains and cleans public areas and public restrooms

  • Ensures internal windows and doorways are free of fingerprints and smudges

  • Ensures that furniture and hard surfaces of public space are clean and organized

  • Public space floors are free of debris

  • Reports any carpet spots/spills to supervisor

  • Empties all waste receptacles in public spaces

    Qualifications:

  • Familiar with Housekeeping; including sanitation, laundry operation, and guest service

  • Lift up to thirty (30) pounds, unassisted

  • Bending, stretching, standing, walking and use of stairs for duration of shift

  • Exposure to chemicals
