The Corporate Communications Manager will lead the internal communications strategy for Morton employees throughout all locations. This will include not only the communications, but also the implementation of digital-based systems to enable real-time collaboration. The objective of creating this role is to build enthusiasm among the employee base, amplify employee contributions to company performance, and strengthen employee competencies.

Essential Functions:

Key functions will result in fully informed and engaged employees who understand and actively participate in strategy development and execution.

  • Routine engagement with senior management to internalize and shape company strategy, key initiatives, and cultural evolution

  • Working with IT to define and leverage a variety of communication technologies that facilitate the sharing of information across the organization

  • Mobilizing thought leaders across the organization to generate useful and innovative content and to present it in ways that increase employee engagement

  • Training and collaborating with employees to increase familiarity and use of all communication media

  • Maintaining adherence to Morton’s brand and its values throughout all communications

  • Develop, design and execute communications strategies

  • Write copy for internal and external media as needed

  • Focused effort to build collaboration, awareness, and skills among employees using all media channels

  • Lead the intranet-based digital communications strategy

  • Work with employees throughout the organization to strengthen employee awareness, engagement and develop creative communications concepts for a variety of internal initiatives

  • Implement innovative communication tools and methods (e.g., video production, podcasts, intranet publishing) to facilitate more effective communication with geographically dispersed colleagues

  • Write creative and insightful copy for press releases, the web, email campaigns, posters, newsletters and articles

  • Manage projects and track programs; set up touch point meetings and follow up to ensure deadlines are met

  • Develop and deliver training that will better enable employees to work collaboratively

  • Regular internal contact:

  • VP, Human Resources: To review progress, needs, etc. Minimum of monthly one-on-one meetings.

  • Routinely meets with senior executives to develop and execute corporate communications strategies

  • All employees to develop engagement needs and processes

  • Regular external contact:

  • All external media contact

  • Other community based organizations across the Company

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

  • 5+ years of work experience as number one or two in a corporate communications role

  • Strong demonstrated written and verbal skills

  • Proficiency in Office 365 and other communications computer tools

  • Proficient in the use of social media

Desired:

  • Master’s in Business Administration or advanced degree in Communications or Journalism and a minimum of five (5) years of related experience and/or training
