  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly.
  • Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking schematics, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
  • Communicate with coworkers to coordinate installations & repairs.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Maintain maintenance log with dates and procedures for each machine.
  • Inspect all safety equipment (guards, switches, etc.) for function and repair if necessary.
  • Build and/or install safety equipment (guards, switches, etc.) as necessary.
  • Maintain and improve work areas for efficiency and safety as if they are equipment, (ensuring all tools in the correct place, electrical shutoffs clear, cords and hoses not on floor, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned.
