Sr Adv Automation Engineer

Position Overview:

Be part of a team supporting Manufacturing Technology (Automation and Digitization) in Honeywell Aerospace, shaping the future of our manufacturing operations. You will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation, optimization, and continuous improvement of our manufacturing processes by leveraging your technical expertise in network architecture of systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, develop innovative solutions, and contribute to the overall success of our aerospace manufacturing operations.

Sr Adv Automation Engineer is an experienced and recognized expert (SME), an author and owner of the strategic plans and objectives. He or she defines periodic changes to optimize the system in place (called Management Operating System MOS) and the regulations and rules of the team. He or she leads by example in the application of lean principles and profiles in at least one of the specialties (Deburring) and mentors a group of 3-5 individuals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives to drive continuous improvement and innovation in the manufacturing environment

  • Collaborate with Sourcing and Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, Design, Quality, ISC teams to place orders for new equipment (Capital)

  • Owns, develops and is responsible for a pipeline of projects for the Deburring technology roadmap

  • Is responsible to execute a balanced portfolio of projects with a minimum of 3 years view.

  • Understand the budget/schedule, manage Capital Planning System (CPS) requests, drive CPS execution

  • Responsible for the management, design, deployment, and implementation of automation projects hardware and software that monitor and/or control the manufacturing process.

  • Create Statement of Work and Project Charter with hands-on collaboration with vendor(s) and integrator(s).

  • Ensure thorough risk analysis (via tools like PFMEA) to mitigate challenges with machine or process qualification steps.

  • Ensures logical and systematic implementation of system requirements into a solution that meets technical, time and cost objectives at selected Honeywell locations.

  • Performs technical planning, system integration, validation, capital cost, ROI, risk management and effective analysis to deliver automated manufacturing equipment connected to the Process Control Network (PCN) in compliance with company IT security regulations.

  • Based on other specialization and focus, applies his or her knowledge and skills in project teams

  • Utilizes appropriate simulation tools in evaluating the current state and designing future solutions in manufacturing.

Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and skill development

  • Travel 25% - 50%

MUST HAVES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or STEM field

  • 5+ years of with experience in Complex Machining & Deburring

  • Knowledge of machining operations such as milling, turning, grinding, and drilling

  • Familiarity with a variety of materials commonly used in manufacturing, including metals, plastics, and composites

  • Technical proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (including Project Management) tools, Robotic Programming (FANUC, Roboguide, etc.), PCL Programming (Studio 5000), CNC Programming (CAM, etc.)

  • Experience performing product manufacturing cost analysis

  • Due to ITAR restrictions, must be a U.S. Citizen
