Barr Engineering Laboratory Assistant - Temporary in Minneapolis, Minnesota
Summary The person selected for this temporary position will work on laboratory projects involving laboratory tasks, instrument calibrations and problem-solving. The work will include monitoring equipment calibration and maintenance, laboratory analysis and data reduction, and assistance with report preparation for submittal to clients and regulatory authorities. This role also may assist with ambient air-quality monitoring, indoor air-quality sampling, and meteorological data collection and processing. Work will include completion of responsibilities in the Minneapolis field office. NOTE: Applicants must be able to work in locations that feature rough terrain typical of industrial and construction sites and to enter and work within facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. Minimum Qualifications Ongoing enrollment in a science or engineering degree program GPA of 3.2/4.0 or higher Self-initiative to identify and independently carry out tasks to completion Self-motivation to overcome obstacles, fulfill commitments, and meet client needs Conscientiousness for accuracy, appropriateness, and timeliness of results Commitment to putting team goals ahead of personal goals Flexible working style and willingness to occasionally modify personal schedules as required to meet project deadlines and/or client needs Positive attitude and approach to problem solving Mechanical aptitude Thorough, detail-oriented approach and strong organizational skills Good communication and personal interaction skills Experience using computer spreadsheets Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship Acceptable driving record Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of laboratory safety requirements Experience preparing reports Laboratory/chemistry experience or education Barr Engineering Co. reserves the right to consider other legitimate, non-discriminatory factors that are not specifically listed.
