Mortenson Construction Commissioning Engineer II-Warranty Manager in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Let's Redefine Possible The Big Picture: Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Energy Storage Commissioning Engineer II-Warranty Management responsible for managing warranty items across all of our Energy Storage projects for items including (but not limited to) inverters, EMS controls, HVAC systems, and networking equipment. This includes providing regular updates to both internal and external stakeholders, managing teams of trade partners and internal experts, and developing schedules for remedying complex warranty issues. This position would involve limited travel (approximately 10%) The base compensation range for this role is $88,000 - $119,000 (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%) This position is eligible for a potential annual bonus.] Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skill and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Project Locations Include: MN, AZ, TX, CA, CO (Can work from a Mortenson office or from home for other 90%) Responsibilities: Provide technical electrical support Review design documents to ensure conformance with contract expectations, ensuring that Mortenson stays compliant with warranty agreements Triage complex warranty issues to determine both priority and level of effort required. Understanding of Mortenson's contractual obligations with regards to warranty coverage. Understanding of Mortenson's trade partners' obligations with regards to warranty coverage. Ensure quality control of remedied work such that Mortenson is providing exceptional customer service while remaining lean and efficient Engage 3rd party testing services, as required. Engage internal experts as-necessary in order to develop workable solutions to complex warranty concerns Work with Project Manager(s)/Electrical Managers to budget, forecast, and manage equipment, materials, small tools/meters, and general working environment Manage the interface with appropriate personnel concerned with the connection of the project power grid to the existing distribution/transmission system Review construction documents for completeness and constructability Support the creation, review and update project schedule and 3 week look ahead scheduling Coordinate plans and specifications with engineers, identifying and clarifying any discrepancies Develop and implement site utilization plan and establish crew sizes Conduct effective pre-construction planning sessions and project site meetings Ensure correct implementation of the Mortenson Project Quality Plan (PQP) and assist in the development and updating of the project control logs and QC documentation; assist with the development of electrical Standard Work Instructions (SWIs) Provide onsite support to electrical team Lead electrical personnel on the project site. Coach, mentor and train field personnel, forepersons, and superintendents Establish and nurture teamwork environment Ensure crews have resources and support Provide work direction and performance evaluations Identify hiring needs and participate in hiring, discipline, and dismissal decisions if needed Develop leadership potential through appropriate task assignments and career growth opportunities Implement Mortenson's Zero Injury Safety Program at project site Manage open shop and union issues Other duties as assigned Maintain relationships with all visitors to the site: customers, architects, union representatives, subcontractors, etc. Lead site work and logistics efficiently, providing suggestions for improvement Produce various reports; including Sequence of Operation instructions for e uipment use and energization of circuits, and written Methods of Operation (MOPs) Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and effectively manage performance Qualifications: Working knowledge of latest NESC, NEC, IEEE, NEMA, and OSHA codes and standards and industry safety requirements and methods Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices Microsoft Office, Project, and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level Positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback Knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity, inclusive behaviors, and Affirmative Action plans and their intended use Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent field experience Minimum 4 years electrical construction management and/or commissioning experience.
