Description

We are offering an exciting opportunity in the non-profit industry. This role is for a Senior Accountant who will provide critical financial services within our team. The role primarily involves conducting various accounting duties and analysis, including work with consolidated financial statements, general ledger accounts, and balance sheets. The successful candidate will also be responsible for conducting monthly reconciliations and ensuring the accuracy of general ledger accounts.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.

• Maintain records of accruals, prepaid assets, long-term debts, fixed assets, and depreciation records along with other assigned balance sheet accounts. This includes preparing, entering, and reconciling general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.

• Complete complex reconciliations to payroll, billing, advancement, and other systems that interface with the accounting records. Initiate analysis and resolution of discrepancies by working collaboratively with the appropriate staff and management to identify and resolve issues and update procedures.

• Maintain a daily record of bank transactions, monitor cash balances, and assist programs with questions about their check registers. This includes processing bank transfers in accordance with established procedures and partnering with bank representatives in resolving any outstanding issues and reviewing all supporting documentation.

• Participate in budget development, cost tracking, documentation, and billing for cost-based grants. Maintain an understanding of allowable costs and monitor the timely receipt of payments. Analyze actual expenses against budget and inform management of variances.

• Participate in annual independent audits and other audits by external regulatory agencies.

• Utilize key skills including Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, Microsoft Excel, Month End Close, NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a senior accounting role

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting

• Experience with accounting software like NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP

• Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations

• Strong understanding of general ledger functions

• Prior experience with month-end close processes and journal entries

• Non-profit industry experience is a plus

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong organizational skills, with an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks

• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation

• CPA certification is preferred but not required.
