Century Contractors, Inc. Field Engineer in Matthews, North Carolina

Position Summary

Provide technical and administrative direction to field layout and surveying personnel.

Essential Functions/ Duties

  • Layout the locations of foundations, footers, anchor bolts, steel, pipe, equipment, duct, etc.

  • Work with all trades to provide control points for installation of work in the correct location.

  • Review drawings and preload them along with data collected with the coordinates of the drawing into surveying equipment. Manage the installation of the work using properly programed survey equipment in the field.

  • Review drawings for any conflicts or misinformation.

  • ISO creation from model. Create drawings to aid in field installation of work.

  • Provide distance from column lines, along with length of runs and drops to aid with the installation of work.

  • Coordination between the CSA contractors.

  • Provide Document Control.

  • Ensure current drawings are being utilized.

  • Create weld maps from original ISO’s.

  • Work with the foreman, welders, and fitters to ensure they understand the log in procedure.

  • Log weld maps to ensure all welds are documented.

  • Create turnover packages for the client while also providing all test reports, O&M manuals, certificates, and QA/QC documentation.

  • Work with the client’s engineers to aid in documenting their concept in a drawing for field use. Walk down new proposed project and using the surveying equipment, I make drawings to scale documenting the proposed project. Continue documenting updates until the drawings reflect the intended work.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • 4-year degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent.

  • Demonstrated success in team leadership, process adherence, ownership/commitment, learning agility and risk management capabilities.

  • Strategic thinker who can establish and manage plans while building and fostering relationships.

  • Knowledge of safety and relevant OSHA requirements and regulations.

  • Proficient PC skills; including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and project management scheduling software.

    Working Conditions/Physical Effort

    Conditions include working in office, shop, busy traffic areas, warehouses, and undeveloped properties, with frequent exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions. Must be able to safely access all areas of property, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops and other elevated positions, as well as, confined spaces. Must be able to effectively use all required PPE equipment and lift up to fifty pounds. Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position. Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools. Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, bending consistently, working in confined spaces with limited access, on ladders, in personnel lifts, in work boots, working in awkward body positions and able.
