Salvation Army Thrift Store Worker & Designated Store Driver in Mankato, Minnesota

Summary of Position The Salvation Army Northern Division is hiring a Thrift Store Worker/Designated Driver. In this position they will manage donated clothing and items by sorting, pricing, and appropriately displaying items received. Lifting heavy boxes and picking up items at their location or delivery of items as needed. Must have required health card to drive store truck. This is a regular full-time position with a work week expectation of 40 hours. Expected pay is $13.75 per hour. 700 S Riverfront Dr., Mankato, MN 56001 Qualifications High school diploma, or general equivalence diploma (GED) and you must be at least 18 years of age. Possess an aptitude in both written and oral communication, be trustworthy, especially in confidential matters and be well organized and efficient. Helpful, courteous and respectful demeanor, with ability to work well with fellow employees and volunteers, take supervision from thrift store management and demonstrate concern for thrift store customers. Must be able to pass The Salvation Army's background check, clerical screenings and MMVR drivers' qualification, must pass the background checks and be willing to support the mission of The Salvation Army. It must be understood by the incumbent that the provisions of Safe From Harm will apply upon commencement of employment and also understood that the required Safe From Harm training be satisfactorily completed within the first thirty (30) days of employment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assist with the receiving of donated goods from donors Maintain a positive, cooperative and friendly atmosphere when dealing with donors Sort stuff as it comes in and place in proper area for handling Make pick-ups of donated items when scheduled and make deliveries of large items to a customer's home, all in a timely fashion. Some pick-ups and deliveries will require carrying up and down stairs As needed, bailing clothing, sorting miscellaneous, and/or pricing and stocking furniture Help clean and organize any area you are working in at end of shift before punching out. Occasionally stock items in the store and/or helping customers Must do vehicle check regularly on the 24' store truck, alert Manager of needed repairs Assist in other duties as may be requested by the store management and/or officers Additional responsibilities: Attend meetings Assist with housekeeping and other chores to maintain the store in a clean, safe, and orderly manner. Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with co-workers. This would include, but is not limited to such actions: work as a team with co-workers for better store efficiency, resolution of conflicts in a professional manner; courteous treatment of staff, visitors and clients; respect of others' property and person and professional and appropriate communication to and about co-workers, and subordinates.
