JOB SUMMARY

The Product Marketing Assistant (PMA) is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Product Manager(s). This person will be an integral part of the promotion and the growth of their designated product lines. A successful PMA will have a good business acumen and will understand the basics of B2B selling.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties as assigned.

  • PMA's shall have knowledge of their supplier's policies, procedures, contacts, and products.
  • The PMA will be trained to be the backup point of contact to the Product Manager (PM).
  • Cross train with other PMA's to expand supplier and product knowledge.
  • Quote requests submitted and responded to in a timely manner.
  • Communicate any challenging issues to the PM in real time.
  • Run Expired Ship and Debit reports to renew supplier contracts monthly.
  • Load vendor contracts in a timely manner.
  • Create supplier bill of materials (templates) as required.
  • Update supplier pricing and lead times as necessary.
  • Process sample requests as required.
  • Assist the Product Marketing Manager (PMM) and PM's on any special projects.
  • Assist PM with open Quote Accelerator (QA) requests.
  • Communicate with the QA coordinator as needed.
  • The PMA position can be a path of succession to Product Manager.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Associate degree (A. A.) from a four-year college or university; or two plus years related sales/marketing experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in electronic component distribution sales or closely related field preferred.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a US Citizen due to Naval Contractual Agreements.
  • Must be able to report to Lumberton, NJ office during scheduled in-office workdays.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook) at the intermediate level preferred.
  • The ideal candidate possesses a business acumen and understands how to calculate basic business formulas. The candidate understands how QBP, purchasing, inventory control and gross profit effects business.
  • Problem Solving- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
  • Customer service skills - Ability to nurture and grow key supplier relationships with, among other activities, timely responses to requests for service and assistance.
  • Business acumen- Understands basic business implications of decisions; maintains appropriate focus on profitability; keeps abreast of the market and the competition.
  • Communications skills - Effectively communicates messages both verbally and in writing; capable of persuasively working with suppliers in both positive and negative situations; a good listener with ability to keep emotions under control.
  • Planning & Organization - Ability to establish a clear plan of action and direct and manage execution of the plan to achieve intended results.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co-workers, and customers. Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers (paperwork, typing, using mouse/keyboard). The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work).
