Chewy Compounding Pharmacist Nights in Louisville, Kentucky

Chewy is hiring Compounding Pharmacists with NEW WAGES starting at $67.00 per hour + Shift Differential!

Our Opportunity:

Chewy is seeking Compounding Pharmacists for Nights with multiple shifts available. In this role you will be responsible for receiving customer orders, applying clinical knowledge to appropriateness of prescription orders, verification of processed orders, working collaboratively with other pharmacists and compounding pharmacy technicians to compound orders, and other duties as assigned.

What you’ll do:

  • Directly supervise compounding personnel

  • Perform and accurately document compounding procedures, quality assurance/quality control checks, and release of compounded preparations

  • Train and evaluate compounding personnel

  • Must be able to use necessary equipment such as computers, scanners, phones, or other technology devices as assigned.

  • Receive and process customer and veterinarian orders.

  • Calibrate, maintain, and use equipment to compound prescription orders and monitor the compounding environment

  • Review and approve materials for use in compounding

  • Answer questions/provide consultation.

  • Follow all safety, USP, and internal guidelines for preparation of compounded medications.

  • Exposure to chemicals used in the preparation of compounds.

  • Safety precautions must be taken when working with hazardous chemical in accordance with USP <800> and applicable laws

  • Must display excellent customer service skills

  • Must display excellent problem-solving skills

  • When required, wear all personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • Must have knowledge of basic principles, theories and laws, policies and procedures that pertain to compounding- specifically USP <795>, <800>, other USP general chapters, and best compounding practices

  • Ability to understand and adhere to all organizational standard operating procedures

  • Willingness to complete external training as required

What you’ll need:

  • Must have at least a BS or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree

  • Must have an active pharmacy license in the state of Kentucky with license in good standing, as well as other states and credentials as required

  • Compounding and/or laboratory experience strongly preferred but not required

  • Strong math skills are necessary

  • Must be able to undergo respirator fit testing - Full beards or a lot of facial hair may prevent a proper seal for the respirator

  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Must be capable of working with small, delicate pieces of expensive machinery to complete appropriate dosage forms in a timely manner

  • Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time

  • Pharmacists will work in a variety of positions and locations such as sitting, standing, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and walking; for prolonged periods of time

  • Must be able to wear required compounding safety equipment for long periods of time when required.

  • Must be able to use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
