Education:

High School Diploma or GED. Associate's Degree preferred.

Months/Years of Experience:

At least nine (9) years experience performing non-routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project, selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs, or layouts, contacts and integrates the technical work of others. Supervisor or professional engineer outlines objectives, requirements, and design approaches. Completed work is reviewed for technical adequacy and satisfaction of requirements. This incumbent may train and be assisted by lower level technicians, and performs one or a combination of the following:

*Designs, develops, and constructs major units, devices, or equipment; conducts tests or experiments; analyzes results and redesigns or modifies equipment to improve performance; and reports results.

*From general guidelines and specifications (e.g., size or weight requirements), develops designs for equipment without critical performance requirements that are difficult to satisfy such as engine parts, research instruments, or special purpose circuitry. Analyzes technical data to determine applicability to design problems; selects from several possible design layouts; calculates design data; and prepares layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, estimates, procedures, etc. May check and analyze drawings or equipment to determine adequacy of drawings and design.

*Plans or assists in planning tests to evaluate equipment performance. Determines test requirements, equipment modification, and test procedures; conducts tests using all types of instruments; analyzes and evaluates test results, and prepares reports on findings and recommendations.

Required Qualifications:

U.S. Citizen. Security Clearance. Previous military Ordnance and Explosives Handling experience.

Skills Needed:

Demonstrated ability to work together with other technicians and engineers to help develop SOPs for ordnance operations;

*

Demonstrated ability to comply with all safety requirements while performing all facets of work and following applicable standard operating procedures and safety procedures as related to ordnance and explosives handling;

*Strong communication skills;

*Ability to obtain NSWCCD ordnance handling qualifications and pass all related tests, oral board, physical;

*Ability to attain additional certifications including HAZWOPER Certification, Certify/Verify MPPEH, Forklift Operator, and Explosive Driver.

Duties:

Process all incoming/outgoing materials at Ammunition Services. Ammunition Services serves as the primary point of entry/exit/distribution of all related materials.

*Perform Ammunition Services functions to include: material item assembly; preparing materials for testing; fuzing/defuzing materials; preparing for testing of canisters and associated test fixtures; pulling/pressing material components; linking and delinking operations; coordination of material movement to NSWCCD storage and/or test sites; and accompanying the movement of material items within NSWCDD.

*Assist in conducting and preparing for physical inventories and inspections of materials at NSWCCD. These inspections may be internal, done on a recurring basis as part of NSWCDD procedures, or required/conducted by external entities.

*Provide support services to Government personnel onboard NSWCDD addressing materials of concern and/or material potentially presenting a potential hazard.

*Work will be in both Office and Field environments.

Desired Qualifications:

Navy and/or Marine Corps experience is highly preferred. Desire to work in a dynamic environment including outside in temperature extremes. Self-motivated. Mission oriented.
