Job Description Summary

As a Field Service and Technical Advising Specialist – Steam Turbine, you will maintain and perform mechanical technical services scope and provide on-site technical direction on Steam Turbine and Generator systems for utility and industrial power plants. You are accountable to review and maintain execution as per equipment engineering documents and work procedure, conduct troubleshooting of the plant equipment and systems. You may be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our GE vision and align with our organization’s core values.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensure full sympathetic and implementation of site and operational activities which align to Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost metrics.

  • Plan, manage, perform, and coordinate Steam Turbine and Generator mechanical site work.

  • Working knowledge of mechanical part for Steam Turbine, Valves, and Generator.

  • Working knowledge of dismantling, inspection and reassembly of Steam Turbine, Valves parts and Generator.

  • Working knowledge of prints/print reading, such as manufacturing drawings, P&IDs and schematic drawings.

  • Excellent teamwork and coordination with other internal or external personnel.

  • Pre-outage planning; possibly recommending and administering policies and procedures.

  • Post-outage activities, include good documentation and on time delivery of final work report, timesheet and other work-related documentation.

  • Drive customer satisfaction in relate to field service activities and outage.

  • Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this thoughtful to accomplish own work. Good thoughtful of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.

Required Qualifications

  • Technical/University degree or qualifying experience OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a Field Services role

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in power plant (Utility, industrial or Oil & Gas or power plant maintenance, turbine generator maintenance or power plant equipment installation).

  • Completion of Steam Turbine/Generator Technical Field Advisor (TFA) training or equivalent.

  • Demonstrated progressive, responsible experience with various types of turbine generator equipment and site accountabilities is required.

  • English proficiency required.

Bonus points for:

  • Experienced level. Has the knowledge and skill to oversee outage management within a competency and may possess expertise in a secondary capability. Demonstrates mentor and team leader skills.

  • Experience and training on GE, Alstom, Siemens or other OEM equipment is preferred.

  • Strong attitude to manage relationships with customers, concerning technical and contractual aspects.

  • Strong organizational, project management, oral/written communication and relational/leadership skills.

  • Strong business acumen and ability to sell GE products to the customer.
