Under the general guidance of the physicians/providers performs a variety of diagnostic ultrasonographic procedures.

Receives patients, explains method of procedure and makes sure patient is comfortable.

Provides patient services to all ages using imaging modalities.

Operates ultrasound equipment to perform clinical diagnostic ultrasound exams and routine invasive procedures according to established standards and practices.

Maintains equipment and supplies and organizes work area.

Keeps accurate records, helps with scheduling of the ultrasound and keeps patient flow smooth.

Follows established policies and procedures, objectives, safety standards, and sensitivity to confidential information.

Willing and able to demonstrate appropriate core competencies annually or as requested.

Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures in accordance with department procedures for one or more of the following examinations: abdominal, obstetrical/gynecological, and vascular and echo cardiographs.

Performs all ultrasound procedures associated with the department, including development of the films and preparation of contrast media, as appropriate.

Performs all quality assurance protocols associated with equipment.

Performs all quality control and quality assurance functions required for VIS examinations.

Orients patients to procedure, obtains patient history and verifies that informed consent is signed.

Transports patients to and from department.

Meets responsibility of on-call scheduling of department.

Files and retrieves radiology files.

Completes quality assurance studies as directed.

Completes all necessary documentation in patient and department files including patient rosters and monthly reports.

Enters HIS/RIS/PAC's data into computer systems.

Completes quality assurance studies as directed.

Maintains current knowledge appropriate to tests.

Assists other members of the department to assure that quality patient care is provided.

Support the culture of service excellence throughout the organization.

Actively seek ways to demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and participate in professional development opportunities.

Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Completes annual educational requirements.

Understands and adheres to Bell's compliance standards as they appear in Bell's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and conflict of Interest Policy.
