LifePoint Health Registered Nurse OB PRN in Ishpeming, Michigan

Provides direct patient care to laboring women and newborns using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.

Documents patient care given.

Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.

Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Follows established policies and procedures, objectives, safety standards, and sensitivity to confidential information.

Willing and able to demonstrate appropriate core competencies annually or as requested.

Completes a comprehensive assessment according to hospital policy.

Formulates a nursing diagnosis from assessment of the patients' acute and chronic health problems.

Communicates effectively all patient assessment data with the healthcare professionals responsible for the patient.

Completes a written care plan for assigned patients and reviews and revises according to established nursing guidelines.

Provides the daily care of each patient assigned in compliance with the written care plan.

Demonstrates knowledge based in areas of, but not limited to, standards of care, practice and professional performance, policies and procedures, drugs, lab values and legal issues.

Serves on hospital committees and/or participates in Q1 activities as directed by the Department Manager.

Demonstrates self-directed learning and participates in continuing education; attend scheduled meetings.

Performs admitting procedures as regards to the obstetrical patient according to policy and procedure.

Demonstrates knowledge of induction procedures.

Demonstrates ability to perform in delivery room, birthing room and/or operating room.

Demonstrates ability to provide newborn care/screening procedures.

Demonstrates knowledge/skill to provide post partum care.

Demonstrates knowledge of aseptic techniques.

Demonstrates awareness of self-responsibility and accountability for personal professional growth.

Assist with orientation of new employees and staff development activities for the unit.

Maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Support the culture of service excellence throughout the organization.

Actively seek ways to demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and participate in professional development opportunities.

Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Completes annual educational requirements.

Minimum Education Graduate of school of nursing Current license to practice as an RN in the State of Michigan Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Required Skills Certifications: □ Basic Life Support (BLS)) □ Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP)

Required Skills Licenses: Valid RN license in the State of Michigan.
