The Digital Services Fellowship is a 10-month collaborative fellowship at John F. Kennedy (JFK) Library at Hutchinson Community College, located in Hutchinson, Kansas. JFK Library will provide hands-on training and experience working in a community-centered academic library that supports a wide variety of students and programs. Primary responsibilities and projects will focus on the use of electronic resources and emerging technologies to enhance student learning, provide research assistance, and support information literacy. The Fellow will develop reference and instruction skills in both face-to-face and virtual environments, evaluate new resources and tools based on collection development best practices, and gain experience with some technical aspects of managing electronic resources such as integrated library systems, eBooks, and online databases.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions:\ \

  • Collaborate with faculty and Online Education to provide library instruction and support to online and distance learning students.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend the adoption of emerging technologies that improve the librarys ability to support students and faculty.
  • Assist with developing the librarys electronic resource development plan and procedure and participate in collection development, including the selection, inventory, and withdrawal of resources.
  • Assist with managing the life cycle of library electronic resources, including the integrated library system (ILS), eBooks, online databases, and virtual reference services.
  • Develop additional projects in collaboration with John F. Kennedy Library, to be determined by the needs of the library and the interest of the Fellow.
  • Support circulation and reference services.
  • Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
  • Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices.
