The Building People Electronics Technician II (TS Cleared) in Huntsville, Alabama

The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a full-time Electronics Technician II with an active Top Secret Clearance for a facilities engineering program to support a federal Agency.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Contractor performs all the duties of an Electronics Technician I, in addition to the following.

  • Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar documents.

  • Work requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence and in selecting tools and testing instruments.

  • Receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, and work is reviewed guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, and work is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices.

  • May provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians.

  • Install and maintain complex communications / network and intrusion detection systems and associated wide / narrow band wireless communication equipment, audio and video equipment, surveillance devices and other security-related equipment.

  • Perform technical work in various areas of specialization and functional areas including, but not limited to, electronic surveillance, data network, video analysis, image, audio, wireless, networking, electronic security, microwave etc., to handle routine and well-defined special assignments.

  • Have the ability to integrate technology with security requirements and emerging threats.

  • Implement connectivity of equipment during crisis situations where immediate security operations are necessary.

  • Design basic approaches to resolve technical problems with conventional equipment.

  • Function in compliance with the national standards and policies relating to the technical design of complex electronic equipment, communications systems and techniques and operates within regulatory guidelines.

  • Assist in the delivery, installation and / or deployment of unique and innovative systems.

  • Interpret and function in compliance with technical specifications, for the development of the assigned system, that include the scope of the system, system definition, missions, threats, interface definitions, performance characteristics, maintainability, reliability, environmental conditions, physical design and construction, electromagnetic and radio frequency interference requirements, human performance / human engineering, adequate documentation of the system, and / or other requirements that are needed in the planning and development stage of the assigned system.

  • Assist in establishing secure communication systems at a command center or SCF.

  • Repair equipment and perform corrective maintenance in assigned programmatic area(s).

  • Inspect and test equipment / systems to ensure that technical integrity is maintained and if necessary, proposes appropriate corrective action.

  • Review pertinent technical manuals to remain current with technology.

  • Work extensively outdoors in the installation and maintenance of a wide - array of technical equipment; use of ladders, safety equipment and ability to navigate rooftops and tight spaces may be required.

Qualifications and Education Required:

  • Active Top Secret Clearance

  • Have an accredited engineering technology two (2) or four (4) year degree or be a military veteran with training in a technical occupation and with four (4) years of technical service experience consistent with the knowledge required for the ET position.

  • Have completed a basic electronics fundamentals course or equivalent and a tradecraft / vendor certified course for one of the following systems:

    o Radio communications

    o Secure network communications

    o Electronic physical security systems; or

  • Have experience as a technician, or position that showed progression in theoretical and practical knowledge of electronic theory, and of the characteristics, function, operation, and capabilities of a variety of types of electronic equipment.

  • Have knowledge of the capabilities, limitations, operations, design, characteristics, and functional use of a variety of types and models of electronic equipment and systems related to, but less than a full professional knowledge of electronic engineering.

  • Be enrolled in an accredited engineering technology degree program and the completion of basic electronics fundamentals course or equivalent; or have earned an accredited engineering technology certificate with at least six (6) semester hours in the electronics courses related to the following:

    o Basic electronics fundamentals.

    o AC/DC circuits.

    o Solid state devices.

    o Power/Transformers.

    o RF/Antennae theory.

    o Digital electronics.

  • Experience shall include the use of schematic diagrams, a variety of test equipment, and the application of appropriate electronic formulas involved in such activities as testing, troubleshooting, modifying, designing, calibrating, installing, maintaining, repairing, constructing, developing, and instructing on electronic equipment, or similar functions.
