WM Continuous Improvement Director in Houston, Texas

I. Job Summary

This Leader is responsible for managing and enhancing the human resources department's operational functions. The Director will oversee the implementation of HR systems, policies, and procedures. This position drives HR initiatives that improve organizational efficiency, employee engagement, and compliance with labor laws and regulations. The Leader will partner closely with other Centers of Excellence, Business Partners and Business Leader to align operational goals to business needs.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drives increased automation of the functions and integration across HR Systems to eliminate duplication of data/effort, streamline processes, and enable more intelligent use of HR applications

  • Oversees and directs the teams to ensure that employee cases are handled accurately and effectively.

  • Develops and implements strategies that enhance internal customer-centric service delivery, efficiencies and employee’s user experience with HR services while reducing business distractions.

  • Defines and supports the measurements of HR’s key business objectives and people metrics and provides supportive and actionable data to drive sound decision-making.

  • Use Design Thinking or Human-Centered Design methodologies to enhance processes, procedures, and policies

  • Utilizes data and analytics to drive continuous improvement initiatives and monitor the impact of implemented changes.

  • Develop comprehensive HR process maps, workflow diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline operations

  • Leads and participates in project teams responsible for organizational and process re-engineering to improve business efficiencies and reduce cost.

  • Conduct thorough assessments of existing HR processes within the function to identify areas for improvement and optimization.

  • Supports and develops diverse staff to improve skill set and encourage role development.

  • Builds and maintains cross functional relationships that improves collaboration and key decision making that aids in the delivery of a world class employee experience.

  • Evaluates and anticipates work volume and assigns and distributes work among staff accordingly. Identifies opportunities to improve customer service.

  • Manages HR records retention strategy.

III. Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

A. Education and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree (accredited) from a 4-year college or university in business, human resources, or related discipline, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience required.

  • Experience: 10 years of related experience (in addition to education requirement) required.

B. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

  • Intermediate Microsoft excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint skills.

  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).

  • Strong leadership and management skills of large teams

  • Ability to set, monitor and report out on departmental KPIs and Metrics (including best in class benchmarking)

  • Experience in shared service / call center environment

Office: This job primarily operates in a professional office environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, etc.
