DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Clerk Typist 2, you will be one of the first individuals that our community members will interact with and provide a positive impact on behalf of Wayne County Human Services, Drug & Alcohol Commission.  You will be responsible for performing a wide range of clerical duties, which will enhance the staff members' (Director, Assistant Director, Administrative Assistant 1, Case Managers, Prevention Staff) ability to provide quality services to community consumers.

You will interact with the public in a courteous and professional manner both in person and over the phone and will take accurate messages, appropriately route calls, maintain electronic calendars, and coordinate appointments for the DUI program and SCA Case Management Unit.  Responsibilities will also include basic operational understanding of the Wayne County DUI Program and serving as clerical support for this program, along with collecting fees from DUI Offenders for Alcohol Highway Safety Class and Court Report Network Evaluations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Limited term, full-time employment for approximately 6 to 8 weeks from approximately June 2024 until August 2024. 37.5 hours per week. Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. This position may require irregular hours, including evenings and weekends. Some travel in and out of the county may be required for meetings. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Six months as a Clerk Typist 1 and educational development to the level of eighth grade; or Completion of a high school business curriculum which included at least one typing course; or Any combination of equivalent experience and training.

Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Lackawanna, Monroe, Pike, Susquehanna, and Wayne counties.  If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered. You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation. A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
