CITY OF GREEN BAY Billing Assistant in GREEN BAY, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Opens and reviews customer payments received via mail; processes payments received by mail through the check/stub scanning software system. Serves as primary cashier for front counter and/or drive-up window. Serves as primary phone contact with customers and provides answers to inquiries and complaints. Runs errands to bank, city hall, and post office, and other errands as directed. Sorts incoming mail and distributes; organizes outgoing mail for pickup. Reviews owner and realtor correspondence for accuracy. Generates written correspondence, job sheets, transfers, and complaint sheets. Scans customer documents and attaches electronically to the corresponding customer accounts in the billing system database. Purges customer documents in the customer file system for dated material to be stored off site. Processes customer change-of-address notices and undelivered mail and follows up on customers with no known address. Assist Metering & Cross Connection Control Specialist with maintaining cross connection and meter test and exchange databases and scheduling of appointments. Monitors customer water usage from meter reading software checking for exceptions and unusual usage. Contacts customers for resolution of exceptions. Processes on-line payments made through customer\'s bank accounts via service companies. May provide interpretation for non-English speaking customers as needed. Performs other related work as required. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma. Two years\' related experience. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Valid driver\'s license and good driving record. Knowledge of operating a computer and other office machinery such as a calculator, copy machine and printer Skill in maintaining accurate records. Skill in performing varied mathematical tasks. Skill in multi-tasking. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to proficiently utilize a computer and the required software. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the staff and the public. Ability to work with minimal supervision and to maintain confidentiality.
