SCL Health Invasive Cardiovascular Tech in Grand Junction, Colorado

Job Description:The CV Invasive Specialist performs duties necessary for cardiac catheterization procedures at a technical and professional level requiring some proctoring and supervision of technical detail. The Specialist performs a variety of technical procedures that require some independent judgment. The CV Invasive Specialist assumes responsibility and initiative for designated areas and procedures as required.

Scope

Provides technical support during invasive cardiovascular procedures. Provides patientcare under the supervision of the RN.

Assists physicians in radiological imaging of cardiac and vascular procedures, acts as scrub assistant, maintaining sterile conditions during clinical procedures. Operates imaging equipment and works in the control room monitoring and documenting procedure images and events.

Educates patients and families regarding the procedure and about the expectations of the procedure. Teaches patient and family about pre and post procedure physical conditions.

Assists in maintaining order and cleanliness of the unit. Maintains appropriate stock levels for complex interventions and diagnostic procedures.

Completes daily, progress and discharge documentation according to departmental standards. Accurately documents productivity information.

Participates in quality and patient safety initiatives. Identifies potential areas for improvement including processes that could be streamlined or revised to improve patient satisfaction. Identifies potential safety hazards that may create problems for patients and/or staff, and takes appropriate actions. .

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Required

High School Diploma or equivalent required

Registered ARRT is required or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist RCIS is required within 18 months of hire or Registered Respiratory Therapist with CV specific certification orRCIS or RCES required

Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) and ACLS is required Surgery Technician License must be obtained within 3 months from hire date in the State of Colorado

Preferred

Associates degree preferred

Two (2) years of experience in Cardiology/Cath Lab is preferred
