Program Summary

KBR leads the government services world contingency market by providing responsive, full-service logistics support to forces deployed around the world under the Logistics Civil Augmentation Program contract (LOGCAP). KBR’s enduring mission support of the LOGCAP program dates back to 1992 when we served as the contract’s original prime contractor. Today, we have a workforce of over 6,000 people representing 40 nationalities who perform work on the contract in 14 countries.

Job Summary

The HVAC Mechanic reports to and receives assignments, instructions, and direction from the Foreman or General Foreman. Installing, servicing, and repairing environmental control units ranging from window units to chill water systems in an extreme environment.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, instruction, and guidance to lower-level craftsmen and may reassign work delegated from the supervisor.

  • Complete records, maintain tools and equipment, and perform various clean-up and housekeeping activities.

  • Observe and follow all safety rules and procedures, including wearing the required personal safety equipment.

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose equipment failures, and read schematics.

  • Fabricate, assemble, and install duct work as needed.

  • Perform other duties and activities as directed.

Basic Qualifications (Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

  • Must possess an Active U.S. Government issued Secret Security Clearance and maintain it for the duration of your employment on this contract.

  • Must have at least 2 years of directly related HVAC experience.

  • Must have 2 years of experience recovering, recycling, and reclaiming refrigerants.

  • Requires knowledge of leak checking equipment.

  • Must know how to safely use the different types of refrigerants in the field today.

  • Must have experience with heat pumps, electric heat, window units, mini split systems, package units, Alaska Units, FD100’s and refrigeration systems ranging from all sizes.

  • Must have a Universal EPA Certification.

  • Requires chill water, boiler system and water pump knowledge and experience.

  • Requires the ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.

  • Brazing and welding experience is required for installing and repairing systems in the field.

  • Some applications will require knowledge and experience with commercial washer and dryer systems such as Speed Queen.

  • Must be able to calculate the number of British Thermal Units required to heat and cool a facility or structure.

  • Must have excellent communication skills.

  • Knowledge of all relevant safety standards related to area of responsibility required.

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis as well as climb, reach, crawl, bend, squat and work in tight confines.

  • Requires a valid driver's license.

  • Must have a valid Passport with at least 12 months of validity and 6 blank pages.

Preferred Qualifications (Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)

  • HVAC-R Technical College Diploma or Degree.

  • Contractor’s license.
