Job Description:

The Department of Surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine is seeking a full-time, a non-tenure research track faculty member, at an academic rank of Research Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, to join our team of highly productive clinical and basic science faculty in the Division of Vascular Surgery. The successful candidate will conduct research on the etiology of aortic aneurysms and its treatment. This position requires advanced skills in small animal survival surgery, immunohistochemistry, RNA and DNA processing, PCR, microscopy, flow cytometry and immunoassays. The individual filling this position will have primary responsibility for creation and full implementation of these analytical approaches, the development of experimental designs, and the presentation and publication of research findings. The Department of Surgery (http://www.surgery.ufl.edu) is ranked number four nationally in NIH funding.

The Health Science Center is located on the University of Florida campus in Gainesville, Florida, and is adjacent to the Colleges of Pharmacy, Nursing, Public Health, Veterinary Medicine, Engineering, and Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Expected Salary:

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must have an advanced degree (PhD, MD, Sc.D. or equivalent) and a record of accomplishment in conducting extramurally funded (NIH or equivalent) research and have completed a postdoctoral training program.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated leadership skills, advanced surgical skills in murine abdominal aortic aneurysms and a track record of working with basic science/clinical faculty. The successful candidate will possess advanced skills in immunology and vascular biology.
