Summary/Objective The Personal Care Attendant (PCA) provides personal care and related services in the PACE Center or home, under the direction, instruction, and supervision of the Attendant Care Supervisor.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities Tasks to be performed by the PCA must be assigned by and performed under the supervision of the PACE Attendance Care Supervisor who will be responsible for the participant care provided by the PCA.

  • Assists the participant with bathing, dressing, toileting and personal hygiene.
  • Assists in maintaining a healthful, safe environment.
  • Cares for participants in the PACE Center while in attendance, to include assistance with toileting, assisting with movement between activities, and feeding.
  • Performs routine housekeeping tasks and chore services as related to a safe and comfortable environment for the participant (such as laundry, dishwashing, mopping, light dusting, sweeping), or as instructed by the professional nurse.
  • May assist with home meal preparation, as assigned.
  • Assists the participant with transfers and ambulation.
  • Assists with home exercise programs as directed by PACE therapy team.
  • Promotes participant's mental alertness through involvement in activities and provides simple emotional and psychological support to the participant. Reports any change in the participant's mental or physical condition in the PACE Center or in his home situation to her immediate supervisor, or to the staff nurse.
  • Prepares a report of his/her visit on the day it is performed and incorporates same in the clinical record weekly or as directed.
  • Attends in-service as required by state and federal regulations
