Leprino Foods Continuous Improvement Specialist in Fort Morgan, Colorado

The Continuous Improvement Specialist reports directly to the Continuous Improvement Leader. The CI Specialist drives process improvements and other CI initiatives to develop a continuous Improvement culture throughout the plant.

The shift will be Monday-Friday day shift and will need to support a 24/7 operation which could include days, nights, and weekends. The pay range for this position is $30.02-$35.27 , based on experience and qualifications.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age

  • 2 to 4 years work experience in a manufacturing position or similar technical role

  • Mechanical skills/aptitude;

  • Time management and organizational skills;

  • Ability to lead and motivate others;

  • Ability to effectively train and develop others;

  • Project team facilitation and presentation skills;

  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and e-mail communication

  • Read, write and speak the English language in order to understand/adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), to communicate effectively with others, and to complete required documentation both in written and electronic form utilizing the English language;

  • Ability to communicate effectively in relaying information to team members, team leads, supervisors, and managers.

  • Ability to evaluate and identify mechanical conditions and adjust or implement corrective action as necessary.

  • Wear required personal protective equipment; comply with all applicable safety practices.

  • Working knowledge of cheese make technical process.

  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement tools such as: 5 Why, Cause Mapping, Fishbone Diagrams, and Pareto Charts.

    Job Duties/Essential Functions:

  • Tracks make plan targets & financials, performs data analytics, and identifies key performance indicators for future improvement opportunities.

  • Develops and sustains visualization of department metrics on the appropriate frequency.

  • Analyzes and measures the effectiveness of existing processes and develops sustainable, repeatable, and quantifiable process improvements.

  • Active participant in process improvements to reduce operational costs while increasing efficiencies and effectiveness.

  • Participates in cross-functional continuous improvement projects.

  • Performs root cause analysis and utilizes other continuous improvement tools and activities to maximize safety, quality, and productivity.

  • Evaluate production processes/equipment for optimization opportunities including manual processes, CIP scheduling, flushes, diverts, etc.

  • Conducts process improvement initiatives through the disciplined use of measurements, accountability, analysis, and discussion of process alternatives to arrive at best practices.

  • Self-motivated to build strong cross-functional partnerships with internal teams to identify and roadmap best solution; trains and coaches the team on the CI Toolset to effectively execute process progression.

  • Partners with plant operators to understand roadblocks, barriers, pain points, opportunities, and so on to derive relevant and impactful CI efforts on the production floor.

  • Continuous effort toward personal leadership, CI, and technical development.

  • Brings expertise or identifies Process Owners in support of multi-functional efforts in process improvements.

  • Develops and continuously improves Standard Work. Reviews training documentation for gaps and provides support in updating documentation and training materials weekly.

  • Ensures proper tracking of improvement actions and measures impact of changes.

  • Utilizes Standard Work to perform team member Proficiency Reviews including coaching trainee on job task best practices for improved job task performance.

  • Trains team members on Standard Work and guides plant teams to ensure standard practices, reapplication of improvements, calibration of approach and effectiveness of processes.

  • Incorporates new/revised processes, electronic systems, tools, equipment, etc. to drive effective process change management into Production Operations.

  • Participates in Corporate or 3rd Party Trials deviating from established Standard Work; provides input & floor engagement to assure effective execution of trials.

  • Review Daily Operating Plans (DOP) with team members to assure optimal production parameters.

  • Assists with daily make plan including development, communication, modifications

  • Evaluate Production, Quality, & Food Safety Records to assure process controls that result in in-spec/food safe finished product. Utilize data to drive standardized/sustainable process improvements reducing process variation.

  • Attend Pre-Shift Meetings when necessary.

  • Attend Team Lead Meetings when necessary.
