Position Summary:

Provides services related to the field of pharmacy under the supervision of a pharmacist. Prepares and dispenses drugs and other pharmaceutical supplies under strict supervision and in compliance with established procedures and standards.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Dispenses and compounds prescribed medications or drugs for patients care in keeping with proper legal rules and under the supervision of a pharmacist.

  2. Reviews and monitors medications and orders written by physicians to see if they are safe and effective.

  3. Prepares labels and dispenses medications for patients in accordance to the physicians’ prescriptions and also follows the government regulations related to dispensing of drugs and narcotics.

  4. Maintains the required records of dispensing

  5. Compounds medications by following standard formulas and processes like weighing, measuring and mixing chemicals

  6. Maintains the systems that charge or credit for medications

  7. May answer queries and give information to customers on a drug, its side effects, dosage and storage.

  8. Follows the procedures of storage, quality assurance, security, and disposal of hazardous materials.

  9. May analyze medications to determine identity, purity and strength.

  10. Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Accepted as a student in an approved college/school of pharmacy in which the candidate is currently enrolled.

  • State Educational Limited Pharmacist (Intern) License.
