Sr. Product Engineer for P&C Group I, Inc. in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Duties: plan and execute complete engineering designs for automotive seating products and projects, from initial design concept through to production release and post-production support, in accordance with budgets and project milestones; produce designs that are feasible and economical to produce in the manufacturing facilities and processes available; provide alternative design solutions, analyses, justifications and recommendations at the concept stage and facilitate selection of designs that achieve best possible trade-off of cost, timing, innovation, and performance; interface with the design team and supply base to quickly resolve issues and develop solutions; support team members in resolving CATIA V5 CAD, ENOVIA, Teamcenter & PLEX-related issues; 25% travel, both domestic and international. Req's: Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or foreign equivalent; 3 years of experience in a product design position in the manufacturing industry; 1 year of experience with each of the following: complete automotive seating system design and development, including defining Bills of Materials, and utilizing CAD tools for complete packaging, installation, kinematic, and layout studies for complex mechanisms; reducing seating structure mass and costs through developing methods of utilizing common features across seat variants, and performing root cause analysis of product issues and confirmation through physical testing; supporting supplier management, production launch, and development through APQP phases, including DFMEA and PFMEA, and post-launch service operations for automotive seating systems; CAD-based component-level testing and validation for automotive seating systems and components, in accordance with FMVSS and ECE specification standards; creating Requests for Quotations and associated Bills of Materials for automotive seating systems including change management throughout the design and release process; developing virtual manufacturing operations plans and performing product database management for automotive seating systems; designing and developing sheet metal stamping and injection molding processes, as well as plastic and cable components for automotive seating systems, including sheet metal and plastic tooling considerations.
