Zions Capital Markets is seeking a well-qualified professional to join its Debt Capital Markets group as an Analyst based in El Segundo, CA. Zions Capital Markets conducts the capital markets and investment banking activities of Zions Bancorporation (the “Bank”) and its affiliates. Housed within Zions Capital Markets, the Debt Capital Markets group is responsible for originating, structuring, and executing syndicated credit facilities, as well as the underwriting and execution of debt securities offerings.

The Analyst will be responsible for assisting the Securities Underwriting Group with all aspects of the new issue pricing process. Actively support senior members of the Securities Underwriting team and bankers in commercial and corporate banking, commercial real estate, and other specialty business units in the origination and execution of new issue debt securities. Assist in coordinating and gathering required materials for due diligence and in the composition of internal memos for transaction approval. Support all phases of the deal execution process, from helping create pitch books, participating on due diligence calls, reviewing due diligence materials, research reports, legal documents, and document retention to liaising with internal bankers, lead underwriters, underwriters counsel, outside legal teams, and internal accounting for deal settlements and revenue recognition. Help evaluate market opportunities, risks, and develop efforts targeting the firm’s lending clients, via marketing and training. Communicate with all internal / external stakeholders in response to inquiries and transaction updates. Assist in analyzing and generating various data bases and reports and help the team build out the debt capital markets function at Zions.

Other Essential Functions:

  • Actively support senior members of the Loan Syndications Group in the origination, structuring, and execution of syndicated lending opportunities.

  • Assist with identification of prospective syndicated lending opportunities and provide guidance on pricing and structure for a variety of new transaction scenarios.

  • Prepare pitch materials to present indicative transaction terms and showcase Zions’ capabilities as a lead bank.

  • Prepare materials to assist in obtaining internal underwriting approvals including, but not limited to, analysis of comparable transaction structures and market liquidity.

  • Research and track participant lender activities and credit appetite. Work closely with senior team members to develop syndication strategies and target lender lists on Zions-led syndicated transactions.

  • Assist in the preparation of transaction marketing materials including confidential information memoranda and lender presentations.

  • Administer and maintain virtual data rooms, answer participant lender diligence questions, and prepare associated communications as required.

  • Assist with the coordination of syndicated loan closing activities with participant lenders, business units, and internal functional areas.

  • Develop relationships with participant lenders and prospective institutional investors and maintain an internal database of all potential participating financial institutions / investors.

  • Some travel required Including attending local and national conferences to help market the Bank.

  • Assist in training and directing the work of Debt Capital Markets Analysts.

  • Assist in the creation of scheduled and ad hoc internal reports as needed.

  • Assist senior team members with special projects as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in debt capital markets, corporate/investment banking, or similar experience.

  • Previous formal credit training a plus.

  • Demonstrated track record of high achievement.

  • High level of focus on work quality and attention to detail

  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, and communication (both verbal and written) skills allowing the candidate to interact with both internal and external parties confidently and professionally.

  • Ability to learn and apply complex concepts quickly.

  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated track record of managing and independently prioritizing multiple simultaneous projects under pressure and tight deadlines.

  • Proactive and highly motivated. Ready to assume a high level of responsibility.

  • Highly collaborative individual who seeks working in a team-oriented environment.

  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

  • Candidate will be required to successfully complete FINRA regulatory examinations covering the Securities Industries Essentials Exam, Series 79 Exam and Series 63 Exam, if not already held.

    This position is in-office.

    This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $90,000 - $130,000 annually depending on job-related factors such as level of experience.
