Senior Accountant

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:

  • Responsible for monthly North American and Corporate Accounting close process for Tennant.

  • Preparation, analysis, and review of financial and/or analytical reports and related workpapers.

  • Responsible for key components of the general ledger close process, implementing system enhancements and driving continuous improvements where possible.

  • Support internal and external audits by preparing related workpapers and analysis.

  • Special project and backup support.

    MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Prepare monthly journal entries and workpapers which requires an understanding of complex accounting rules and principles (e.g. revenue recognition, sales incentives, debt, leasing, warranty etc.)

  • Direct monthly close process for North America and other global entities and ensure timely compliance with close calendar.

  • Reconcile selected accounts to the general ledger in Blackline in order to reflect accurate accounting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and SOX 404 requirements. Recommend appropriate correcting entries and improvements in accordance with US GAAP.

  • Preparation, analysis and/or review of financial and/or analytical reports and related workpapers. Meet with key stakeholders to discuss and review findings.

  • Responsibility for key components of the general ledger close process, implementing system enhancements where possible. Perform configuration and testing related to existing or new processes/implementations as needed. Implement improvements to shorten general ledger close process whenever possible.

  • Record monthly sales incentive entries and partner with North American business to accurately reflect sales, cost of sales and related accruals in the general ledger.

  • Assist in internal audit/404 requirements, including writing or enhancing narratives and documentation of controls for key processes.

  • Assist in the preparation of footnotes to financial statements.

  • Research technical US GAAP issues and prepare technical accounting memos as required.

  • Assist Financial Planning and Analysis group during budget preparation periods.

  • Special projects and backup support as needed.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Minimum 3 years experience in corporate accounting, preferably in a public company

  • SAP or ERP experience a plus

  • Public accounting experience, preferably Big 4, a plus

  • CPA Preferred

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage several projects simultaneously

  • In-depth understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
