Metropolitan Mechanical Contractors, Inc. Automation Controls Application Design Engineer in Eden Prairie, Minnesota

MMC is searching for an Automation Controls Application Design Engineer to add to our growing technology department. The Automation Controls Application Design Engineer provides professional service to design our client’s operational and environmental objectives, needs, and requirements. The primary focus is to design Temperature Controls/Building Automation for HVAC Systems. The professional in this position selects all parts and components of the automation system, writes sequence of operations for all equipment being controlled, creates construction project submittal information and orders/tracks all project parts and components to achieve quality results.

Primary Responsibilities of Automation Controls Application Design Engineer:

  • Determine locations of sensors within a mechanical system to provide accurate installation by field personal.

  • Select sizing and valve type for all control valves and dampers.

  • Submitting project design to engineers for review.

  • Meeting/working with engineers to determine special project design requirements.

  • Ordering and tracking of all control parts for related projects.

  • Pricing of project change orders.

  • Select proper sensors and components to provide the monitoring and control of equipment that meet an engineer’s specification and sequence of operation.

    Requirements for the Automation Controls Application Engineer:

  • Experience with HVAC, electrical, automation systems, networking, and/or electronics is a plus but not required.

  • Proficiency with building automation systems for controlling HVAC Systems is a plus but not required.

  • Working knowledge of BACnet control systems is a plus but not required.

  • Strong computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and Visio; programming; project start-up, checkout, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Effective communication skills, customer focused with interpersonal savvy, ability to listen.

  • Organized, good planning and time management skills with the ability to prioritize.

  • Excellent problem solving skills with the desire to drive for results.

  • Valid Driver’s License in good standing issued by state of residence
