Our process lines demonstrate how lean thinking optimizes value to the customer and Metallus. The opening is on the midnight shift (11:00 PM to 7:30 AM). Purpose and Scope Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the General Utility Laborer is responsible for maintaining the cleaning schedule for all coolant sumps across the facility, assisting with processing non-conforming material, and performing general tasks as assigned. Responsibilities * Load parts into machines as needed. * Provide visual inspection of parts, looking for major defects. * Manage time effectively to assist with cleaning tasks for machine coolant sumps. Perform additional cleaning as needed. * Assist with processing non-conforming material as directed. * Perform operative housekeeping and preventative maintenance tasks on machines as needed. Technical / Functional Skills * Ability to take direction on prioritizing tasks * Detail oriented when completing tasks * Ability to follow written work instructions * Effectively manage time Minimum Requirements No degree required; no experience required Preferred Requirements No degree required Specific Physical Requirements * Ability to routinely bend and squat * Ability to walk, stand or sit for prolonged periods of time * Ability to repetitively grasp Unusual Environmental Conditions Position sometimes requires working in an environment that could be dirty, loud, and at times hot. Required Personal Protective Equipment The position requires the use of safety glasses and metatarsal safety shoes when entering the manufacturing environment. A variety of personal protective equipment is available, including chemical gloves, Tyvek arm sleeves, and a full Tyvek suit for cleaning activities. Relocation is not offered for this position.
